Gorilla Drive V2 by Safari Audio is a saturation and distortion plugin inspired by the rich, harmonically dense character of classic germanium overdrive circuits. Designed to add warmth, grit, and analog-style coloration, it ranges from subtle saturation to aggressive distortion while preserving the dynamics and punch of the original signal.
The plugin features independent Low and High Drive stages for frequency-specific saturation, allowing you to add weight to low frequencies while introducing brightness and aggression to the upper range. A built-in Transient Shaper provides control over attack and sustain, while Ape Mode pushes distortion and compression further for more extreme tonal effects. The Tone Tilt control adjusts the overall tonal balance, and the Blend control enables parallel processing to mix clean and saturated signals.
Gorilla Drive V2 also introduces an updated DSP engine with oversampling for reduced aliasing, optimized CPU performance, and battery emulation for unstable, vintage-inspired saturation. Smart Gain, Link Gain, A/B comparison, and short-term LUFS metering help maintain consistent loudness when auditioning settings. A redesigned interface and searchable preset browser streamline the workflow.
