GForce Oberheim Matrix-12.
The GForce Software Oberheim Matrix-12 brings one of the most powerful and iconic analog polyphonic synthesizers ever created into the modern software environment. Developed in close collaboration with Oberheim and original Matrix-12 designer Marcus Ryle, this officially authorized recreation faithfully captures the sound, architecture, and extensive modulation capabilities of the original 1985 hardware instrument while introducing modern features that make its complex synthesis engine more accessible and expressive.
Based on the legendary Oberheim Matrix-12 and its Xpander predecessor, the software recreates the instrument's sophisticated analog voice architecture, featuring 12 voices of polyphony, 24 modeled VCOs with two oscillators per voice, and an extensive multimode filter system offering 15 individual filter modes. Its powerful modulation architecture provides an enormous range of sound-design possibilities, allowing users to create everything from rich analog pads, evolving textures, and expressive leads to deep basses, complex sequences, and experimental electronic sounds.
The redesigned interface makes navigating the Matrix-12's famously complex synthesis architecture significantly easier. Drag-and-drop modulation routing, visual feedback throughout the interface, and an intuitive layout allow users to understand signal flow and manage intricate modulation relationships without navigating the original hardware's extensive menu system. Every module is designed to provide clear visual information, making advanced sound design more immediate and approachable.
Beyond its faithful recreation of the original instrument, the GForce Oberheim Matrix-12 introduces modern performance and production capabilities, including full MPE compatibility for expressive control, an extensive built-in effects section, and a substantial preset library featuring nearly 200 original Matrix-12 and Xpander patches. The result is a versatile software instrument that preserves the unmistakable Oberheim character while expanding its possibilities for contemporary music production.
