Animal Factory Asura- Compact Hybrid Polyphonic Synthesizer.
The Animal Factory Asura is a six-voice hybrid polyphonic desktop synthesizer developed in collaboration with philtersoup. Designed around the interaction between digital wavetable synthesis, custom analog fuzz, and feedback, the Asura takes a different approach to traditional VCO-VCF polysynth architecture, offering a wide range of textured, distorted, and evolving sounds.
Each of its six voices features two oscillators with factory and custom wavetables, along with optional 1-op FM for additional timbral variation. A custom analog fuzz circuit provides waveshaping, distortion, and tone control, while two LFOs, two envelopes, and an assignable pressure source provide extensive modulation possibilities.
The Asura includes Poly, Unison, Chord, and Arpeggiator modes, as well as an 8-step sequencer with parameter locking and randomization. An internal digital delay adds further space and movement to patches, while the web-based editor provides detailed control over the instrument's parameters.
MIDI provides complete parameter control through TRS and USB-C connections, while the hardware also includes Audio, Gate, Clock, V/Oct, and two CV inputs for integration with modular and external gear. A built-in high-quality headphone amplifier and 12V/1A DC power supply make the Asura well suited for both desktop setups and live performance.
