The NOH Modular Comper is a musical gate sequencer for chord and bass accompaniment. Play a gate sequence from a bank of widely used jazz, bossa nova, and pop chord rhythm patterns. rhythm patterns range from Swing to straight 8th notes, and are selectable in three time signatures (4/4, 7/8, 3/4). Add a groovy humanised bass that is dependent on the genre of the chord rhythm pattern, and perform with randomness for generative music (or lucky musicians). In addition, get musically coherent gates like the 8th note output for swing and straight, and the meter output that triggers when a new bar occurs.
The Comper can help you tap out a chord rhythm pattern in many genres and styles, in addition to having a compatible bass rhythm pattern that goes with the chord output in all genres, time signatures, and styles. The inputs and buttons all make the Comper performative, generative, and easily controllable in any musical context. An important aspect of the Comper is its compatibility with several time signatures, enticing an exploration of rhythms and grooves other than the common 4/4 time signature.
