The Walrus Audio Lore Reverse Soundscape Generator MKII is a stereo ambient effects pedal built around reverse delay, reverse reverb, pitch shifting, and complex feedback networks. Featuring five distinct modes, it combines multiple DSP algorithms in series to create evolving soundscapes, from reversed swells and octave shimmer to dark atmospheric textures, sustained pads, and intricate pitch-shifting patterns.
Each mode pairs two effects through independent feedback paths, allowing sounds to continuously evolve rather than simply repeat. Mode I combines reverse delay and reverse reverb for expansive, reversed textures. Modes II and III pair reverse delay with octave-up or octave-down reverb, offering contrasting bright, shimmering or dark, dense atmospheres. Mode IV combines reverse and forward reverbs with harmonic feedback for immersive ambient pads, while Mode V uses two interacting pitch delays to generate evolving melodic patterns that can behave like a harmonizer or sequencer.
The dedicated Tweak control provides access to five additional parameters: stereo Width, modulation Rate, modulation Shape, pitch-shifting range (Shift), and transition time (Ramp). A momentary Dive/Rise function lets you temporarily change the pedal's clock rate for dramatic pitch and time-stretching effects. Three onboard presets, a live mode, MIDI control, and assignable expression functionality provide extensive control over evolving sounds and performance setups.
Designed for stereo operation, the Lore features MIDI clock synchronization, USB-C firmware updates, and selectable Trails or No Trails bypass modes. Its proprietary MDSP digital processing platform delivers detailed, high-fidelity effects in a compact enclosure, making it a versatile tool for ambient guitar, experimental music, sound design, and cinematic textures.
