Shakmat Modular Lancer's Lash Snare Drum Synthesizer
The Shakmat Modular Lancer's Lash is a highly versatile Eurorack snare drum synthesizer designed to cover everything from tight, classic electronic snares to metallic hits, granular percussion, physical-modelled textures, and experimental hybrid sounds. Rather than relying on a single synthesis architecture, it combines multiple dedicated sound engines in a compact 8 HP module, making it suitable for both traditional drum programming and more adventurous percussion design.
Seven synthesis models provide distinctly different approaches to snare generation: Analog, Slap, Modal, Physical, FM, Granular, and Blend. Each model responds to a focused set of sound-shaping parameters, allowing the module to move easily between familiar drum-machine-style hits and complex digital percussion. Dedicated effects further expand each engine with processing including distortion, waveshaping, and model-specific effects.
Lancer's Lash includes an integrated randomization system that can introduce anything from subtle humanized variation to radically different hits. The amount of random modulation can be set independently for individual parameters, providing detailed control over how much each triggered sound changes. A velocity input adds dynamic response, while the dedicated manual trigger button makes it easy to audition sounds directly from the front panel.
For live performance and preset-based sequencing, the module provides 256 non-volatile preset slots. Presets can be recalled through CV or the Eurorack Select Bus, allowing complete snare sounds to change within a patch or sequence. A microSD card slot provides additional preset management and firmware update capabilities.
Operating with 16-bit / 48 kHz digital sound generation, Lancer's Lash provides seven CV, trigger, and velocity inputs alongside a dedicated mono audio output. Its shallow, skiff-friendly construction and compact 8 HP footprint make it easy to integrate into percussion-focused or general-purpose Eurorack systems.
