Nano Modules EXP4 - Performance Mixer Expander.
A compact 4HP expansion module designed to extend the functionality of the Nano Performance Mixer, adding deeper routing, individual channel access, and expanded CV control for more advanced mixing workflows in Eurorack systems.
EXP4 turns a performance-oriented mixer into a more modular mixing and multitracking hub. It is aimed at users who want more detailed control over individual channels, especially in live setups, studio recording workflows, or complex performance patches involving automation and external processing.
Key Features
- Individual stereo outputs per channel: enables multitrack recording or separate FX processing per voice
- CV control for channel mute functions: automate or sequence muting behavior for performance dynamics
- CV inputs for Aux sends (channels 3 & 4): external modulation of send levels for evolving effects routing
- Expanded patching flexibility: breaks mixer channels into independently addressable signal paths
- Compact 4HP design: minimal rack space for significant functional expansion
Functional Overview
EXP4 effectively “breaks out” the internal structure of the Performance Mixer, exposing each channel as an independent stereo source. This allows for advanced routing strategies such as parallel processing, stem recording, or modular-style mix automation.
The added CV inputs for mutes and aux sends also transform the mixer into a more performative instrument, where mix movement can be controlled externally via sequencers, LFOs, or envelopes rather than only manual interaction.
Use Case
Ideal for users who want to move beyond simple stereo summing into multi-output mixing, live automation, or modular-style DAW-less recording setups. EXP4 is particularly useful in performance environments where dynamic muting, evolving FX sends, and per-channel processing are central to the workflow.
